Step 1: Apply to Highland
Whether you plan to attend on campus, enroll in technical education, take dual credit courses in high school, or study online, your first step is to complete the application. Highland has open enrollment and a free application. Once you apply, you’ll receive access to your Highland student account and personalized next step instructions.

After applying, activate your Highland student account. This gives you access to your Highland email, financial aid information, registration tools, and important updates. Your Highland email is the primary way we communicate with you. Whether you are enrolling in person or online, your dashboard will guide you through what to complete next. Highland is committed to keeping education accessible and affordable across all programs and locations. Most students qualify for financial assistance through FAFSA, scholarships, grants, or payment plans. Start by completing your FAFSA and exploring Highland scholarship opportunities. Our Financial Aid team will help you understand your options and build a plan that works for you.

When you're ready to select your classes or confirm your program, you have options. You can review online enrollment tutorials that walk you step-by-step through selecting courses and completing registration independently. If you prefer personalized guidance, schedule an appointment with an Enrollment Counselor. We’ll help you align your schedule with your goals — whether you're planning to transfer, complete a technical certificate, enroll in dual credit, or earn a degree online or on campus.
AdvisingStep 5: Get Ready for Day One
Before classes begin, confirm your schedule or program placement, check your Highland email, secure required materials, and review instructions for your course format. On-campus students can review maps and attend orientation. Online students can access login instructions and virtual orientation materials. Technical and early college students will receive program-specific guidance. You’re officially a Scottie. We’re ready to support you from your first class through completion.
