The Bauer Family has established The Virgil '41 & Lou '41 Bauer Memorial Fund to support faculty professional development. From experience they know applying for scarce funds in an academic environment can be challenging and futile and want to ensure more awards are available to HCC faculty. Two $1,000 awards will be given annually.

Summary of the Bauer Award:

  • The purpose of the Awards are to support HCC faculty development.
  • The Awards will be presented at commencement.
  • The Awards will be made based on proposals from HCC faculty members.
  • The HCC Faculty Development Awards Online Application must be submitted by April 24, 2026.
  • At minimum, proposals should include your name, description and nature of your proposed development activity, cost estimates, and the date submitted. Proposals can address any aspect of your profession.
  • The financial portion of the Awards are made to fully fund or partially fund your proposal. The amount awarded is determined by the proposal and the earnings on the investment of the Funds. (For 2021, each award will be $1,000 each.)
  • The 2026 selection committee is composed of the Executive Director of the HCC Foundation, the Dean of Instruction,  and the Dean of Technical Education.
  • If none of the proposals received are considered worthy of the Awards, the Awards will not be made that year.
  • A recipient is not eligible to receive one of these Awards two years in a row.
