As temperatures dropped this fall, the Highland Community College community showed their warmth and generosity through two meaningful initiatives at the Walters Wellness Center.

In October, a coat drive invited community members and college staff to donate coats for students in need. The collected items were made available through the HCC pantry, ensuring students could bundle up before the harsh winter weather arrived.

Building on the success of the coat drive, November saw the launch of a blanket drive. Generous donors contributed blankets, which were also distributed through the pantry to help students stay warm as the temperatures fell further.

The Walters Wellness Center serves as more than a hub for fitness. It also houses a food pantry which supports students facing food insecurities. Open at least once a week, the pantry provides essential items such as food, hygiene products, and now, thanks to these thoughtful drives, coats and blankets.

The HCC community's compassion continues to make a meaningful difference, proving that even during the coldest seasons, hearts can remain warm.
